This is an event we volunteer at annually for the Curry family and the Trey Curry Foundation. We receive a $2500 donation!!!!
This year's theme is "Celebrating Tampa Bay" and they want us in full Alegria costume. This is a great way to get hours and it is always a fun event.
They have requested volunteers that have worked in prior years to have first priority in returning. We need 15 volunteers. I will put any that have worked in prior years first then fill up the remaining in order of the rsvp's.
NOTE: Although Maribel is no longer in Alegria, she has remained the volunteer coordinator for the Curry Foundation. (She will not be wearing our costume, just fyi, as only Alegria members can wear them.) To help things go smoothly Christine will be assisting Maribel and both Rocky and I will be in attendance (we are not volunteering but are attending as guests).
The 6th annual Tampa Pride Diversity Parade will be on May 22, 2021 in historic Ybor City, also known as the GaYBOR District. This has become a historical and annual spring event when Florida weather is most enjoyable!
Once again the parade will wind its way east from the corner of Nuccio Parkway and E 7th Avenue, down E 7th Avenue to N 20th Street where it will turn north to disperse.
The parade will start at 4:00pm in front of Centro Ybor with a special community tribute.
This parade will be a celebration of the contributions of Hometown Heroes to the Tampa Bay community and recognition of our Armed Forces. Notably, on May 29, 1898, 1060 Rough Riders and 1258 of their horses and mules travelled on the Southern Pacific railroad from San Antonio, Texas to Tampa, Florida prior to setting off to Cuba!
This parade is an opportunity for the Rough Riders and other Krewes to honor local Hometown Heroes on their floats - doctors, nurses, essential personnel, military personnel, etc.
